Maureen was the only person kinda close (not really sure why, I probably would have put Roger or Collins a distint second) with everyone else very very far away. Lots of love for Joanne who I didn't identify with at all (shock of all shocks, a 0).
And yes, this is an actual update. Well not really, its a quiz. But hey, gotta start somewhere. |

| From the Stylus |
[Nov. 11th, 2005|12:24 am] |
An article in the Stylus this week caught my attention. I like this guy a lot more now.
Shattering single parent stereotypes
A Few Cards Short
Thom Jennings
I had an inkling that if I wrote a column about abortion on a campus with a high percentage of women that I would get some feedback, but I never imagined how many people would pull me aside or even discuss the issue with my kids in Albion. I was also a bit surprised at some of the misconceptions I encountered.
This was especially true in the letter to the editor last week entitled “Jennings Abortion Column is Offbase” by Annette Peterson. The highlight of that letter is Annette’s insightful statement that I “obviously” have never raised a child by myself. Is it that obvious? Please tell me that Annette is not studying to be a police detective!
To Annette’s credit she probably had no idea that my first article was published in The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle on Father’s Day 2002 about my experience as a single parent. (Notice I am using the politically correct term “parent” and I am referring to Annette by her first name.) The article is available for purchase on the Web site www.democratandchronicle.com.
Maybe some of you ladies would benefit from reading it. Annette, when you are done reading this article, you can e-mail your apology to the address listed at the bottom of this column. Include an apology for my two children, Thomas and Trevor. I have had custody of them since February of 2001 and I receive child support, I don’t pay it.
The fact that I am a single parent does not make me an expert on this subject, but it does give me a unique perspective. Even though I spent a bit of time picking on Annette, (you should have seen the first draft), I am used to people assuming my children live with their mother.
My experience has shown me all too well how prejudiced society and the court system are to men when it comes to custody and visitation. The real tragedy is that instead of people assuming I have my children because I was the primary caretaker and in a better position to take care of them, they assume that their mother was horrible. It just goes to show you how damaging stereotypes can be, and the victims in this case are the children who can be sent with the wrong parent.
The point of my last article that seemed to be lost was that both parents should have equal opportunity to be part of a child’s life from the moment of conception — if the sex was consensual. Although some health teachers may gasp at the advice I give to my children, I tell them never to have sex with any woman they don’t plan on having a child with, whether or not they use a condom. If the woman does become impregnated, I expect them to step up to the plate and take their share of responsibility from day one.
Realistically, this is the type of thing that cannot be accomplished with legislation. Even if there was a law on the books requiring women to consult with the father, women could easily circumvent it. I imagine that if the father decided he would raise the child, then a sacrifice of nine months for a woman seems reasonable, especially considering the fact that all of our mothers were able to bring us into the world.
In spite of the fact that my children can get on my nerves, as all children do, I have cherished every moment I have with them from changing their diapers to handing over the car keys so they could drive the car for the first time, and I look forward to knowing and loving their children someday. (Don’t get any crazy ideas Thomas!!) |

SEOUL, South Korea (Reuters) -- A South Korean man who played computer games for 50 hours almost non-stop died of heart failure minutes after finishing his mammoth session in an Internet cafe, authorities said on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old man, identified only by his family name Lee, had been playing online battle simulation games at the cybercafe in the southeastern city of Taegu, police said.
Lee had planted himself in front of a computer monitor to play on-line games on August 3. He only left the spot over the next three days to go to the toilet and take brief naps on a makeshift bed, they said.
"We presume the cause of death was heart failure stemming from exhaustion," a Taegu provincial police official said by telephone.
Lee had recently quit his job to spend more time playing games, the daily JoongAng Ilbo reported after interviewing former work colleagues and staff at the Internet cafe.
After he failed to return home, Lee's mother asked his former colleagues to find him. When they reached the cafe, Lee said he would finish the game and then go home, the paper reported.
He died a few minutes later, it said.
South Korea, one of the most wired countries in the world, has a large and highly developed game industry. |

| | Journey - "Open Arms" | ] | Hi Courtney!
So Friday I worked during the day and I never work during the day. So that was crazy... and the one manager I never worked at bitched at me for using the back door. The rule is to not open the door after 10am.... except to take out the trash (cause its against health codes to use a front door for taking out trash). So yeah... I got completely bitched at for taking out the trash cause the manager thought I went out to go smoking and used the back door to do so.
Yeah... I practically quit right there when he laid into me with all his bullshit. So I've decided that I will no longer work during the day cause I simply can't work with that asshole. He knew he made a mistake but just blew it off and still made it seem like I did something wrong. Nice... if I get scheduled during the day, I'm calling in. Or quitting. Its only 3 more weeks and its unlikely I get scheduled during the day so I should be fine. Best part is he's not really a manager... he's the baker in the morning. So he's like half a level above me... and not really even that. Quality let me tell you.
In other news, Monday night we had quite the drama at work. So they fired this kid thats worked there for a few years. He took it pretty hard and is pretty unbalanced normally. So yeah... he like completely lost it and came in 5 minutes before closing Monday. So basically he came in (on some sort of crazy drug I'm sure) and was shouting about killing himself and threaten others. He eventually calmed down a bit to a real quiet state and then started saying good bye to everyone. And it wasn't the good bye, I'll catch you later kind of thing. Definately thought he'd kill himself right there... or hurt us.
I don't think I've ever been more scared for my life or the others around me. I really thought something was going to happen if you know what I mean. So we called the cops and that eventually worked itself out. Needless to say everyone was shaking on their way home that night.
So work sucks... it doesn't suck cause I'm working 40 hours. I just sucks in general and would even if I was working 5 hours a week. My favorite manager (and the cute one :() leaves at the end of next week. Thats going to suck too.
Is it time to go back yet?

The new kids suck...
Where the fuck do we hire these people?
What the fuck is wrong with kids who are 16 and 17?
We weren't this fucked up in high school....
The generation... hell its not a generation... the people 4 to 6 years younger than us are simply the most fucked up group of individuals ever.
They all need to be fired... and then put somewhere that they can't do any harm to society.
Thankfully there are a handful of decent people left at work that make quitting impossible.
Brockport in 5 weeks... its so close.
This entry sucks... maybe I'll write two posts this month to make up for it. |

| | Cars - "My Best Friend's Girl" | ] | Perfect Pitcher Donates Jersey by Veronica Chiesi-Brown/Linda Loy Published Jun 14, 2005 A Genesee County little leaguer made national headlines last month for being the only girl to pitch a perfect game in little league history. Now, she will have a place next to some of the greatest in the game, like Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio and Hank Aaron.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame asked to put Katie Brownell's jersey on display in Cooperstown. Katie, was at first reluctant to part with the jersey until she was reassured they'd make her a replacement. She plans to donate the jersey on July 7.
As the only girl in the league, she struck out all 18 batters she faced in a game last month. Her accomplishment earned her recognition on national TV, and a visit with President Bush.
Just wow... |
